ภาวะบกพร่องทางการได้ยินเป็นภาวะที่พบบ่อยในผู้สูงอายุ แม้ว่าภาวะบกพร่องทางการได้ยินมักดูไม่รุนแรงเมื่อเทียบกับโรคทางกายอื่นๆ ผู้สูงอายุจะมีปัญหาในเรื่องการสื่อสารกับบุคคลอื่น โดยเฉพาะคนใกล้ตัว เกิดการสื่อสารที่ลำบากทั้งผู้พูดและผู้ฟัง เกิดความไม่เข้าใจกัน อาจนำมาซึ่งความผิดปกติไม่เพียงแค่ทางร่างกาย แต่อาจส่งผลกระทบต่อทางจิตใจ สังคม และความสามารถในการทำกิจวัตรประจำวันของผู้สูงอายุด้วย นอกจากนี้การรักษาโดยการใช้เครื่องช่วยฟัง ก็ส่งผลกระทบทั้งทางด้านร่างกายและจิตใจผู้สูงอายุ ในบทความนี้จะแสดงตัวอย่างประสบการณ์ของการเป็นผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะบกพร่องทางการได้ยิน ดังนั้นการนำเสนอกรณีศึกษาในครั้งนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงปัญหาของผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะบกพร่องทางการได้ยินจากการศึกษาผู้ป่วย 3 ราย โดยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการวางแผนการพยาบาลผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะบกพร่องทางการได้ยิน ที่จะมีจำนวนเพิ่มขึ้นในอนาคต

Hearing impairment was a common symptom in older people. Although hearing impairment tended to be less severe when compared to other physical ailments, older people frequently had problems in communication with other people due to hearing impairment problems. It caused difficulty in communicating for both the speaker and the listener. As for older patients with hearing impairment, the symptom might not only lead to physical impairment but also psychological, social, and functional impairment. This article reviewed the example of experiences of older people with hearing impairment. Therefore, this case study aimed to reflect the problems, plan of care, and how to handle the problem of the persons with hearing impairment that would increase in number in the future.
